A bit more of SS 2011

Here is a bit more on fashion for SS 2011. I know I already had a "Fashion trends 2011" post earlier, however, I really couldn't help it. I really adore the coming season's collections, plus, I really can't wait for a warmer season to come and it serves me as an inspiration and warms me. My absolute favourites here are Jason Wu, since it very much conforms to my style and also Marc Jacobs, which is very 50s inspired and just lovely to look at.
Hope you enjoy it!

Olivia Palermo

Today's post is inspired by Olivia Palermo and I have to admit that it's a lazy post, since I had this one prepared already. But since I'm sick I decided to make my life a little easier.
I know some people say the star of today's post isn't a very nice person, but this definitely isn't for me to decide and I do think she has amazing style absolutely worth talking about. I arranged the pics by style and colour and hope you guys enjoy. She definitely inspires me to try and experiment with fabrics and colours. She is also known for her statement jewellery and previously I have been trying to avoid big chunky pieces, and rather liked delicate jewellery but this is definitely slowly changing.

Nail art

Yesterday I have been trying some nail art. I have to say that it took me a while to try it since I am normally quite sceptical when it comes to this particular matter. I usually find most of it quite tacky especially on fake and super long nails and it's really not my cup of tea. But after watching a few videos on Youtube I decided to give it a try and this is what I came up with:
I drew little flowers on a black background and sealed everything with a matte top coat because to me the motive is much better visible than on a glossy nail. However, to me this is probably as far as nail art goes.

Just a little baking

It has been snowing since yesterday evening and there are about 25cm on the ground. I really don't remember a winter like this here in Germany and it reminds me of my childhood in Ukraine. I was going to the supermarket in the morning to buy the missing ingredients for the biscuits I was planning to bake and literally couldn't open my gate because of the snow masses blocking the way.
Anyway, I made it and also managed to bake today. Although I don't celebrate Christmas I somehow got into the spirit of the holidays. And here is my contribution:

I am actually very proud because they look really nice and taste even better! It is a really easy recipe to make and it doesn't take long so it's a quick addition for the holiday morning.

DIY Weekend

It has been snowing in Europe for days and to be honest it's just so much more tempting to stay at home and spend the weekend in bed. Yesterday I was still out and doing some shopping with my mom and bought some supplies for my DIY-projects.
Since it was the perfect snowy weekend I spent some time flipping through other peoples' fashion of life-style blogs and got inspired.
Firstly I knitted a turban in light pink for myself since I've been desiring it since the "Sex and the City" movie and saw a knitted version of it in Zara. I really like my creation because it fits me perfectly and I actually love the colour. I think I'll be knitting one in black for myself as well. The advantage with this project is that I have so many yarn left-overs in different colours thus I can just check my stash without spending money on more. Anyways, here is the result:
Update: After wearing my little turban today I realised that the top of my head was getting cold, thus I added a top to it and here is the result:

Secondly I decided to transform my shoes. I bough green suede heels when I was living in Madrid and decided it's time to change their appearance a little. I have to admit that it wasn't entirely my idea and I got inspired at MADAM BROSHKINA's blog here. I bought these little gem stones as well as transparent glue and have been placing them with tweezers today. So here is the result of that and I absolutely LOVE it:

So what do you think of my weekend pastime? And what did you do during this total weather chaos?

Fashion trends 2011

OK, so for a while I've been getting the Vogue Germany newsletter and in today's issue they presented a summary of the fashion trends for SS 2011 and I have to say that I ABSOLUTELY love it! You can see my favourites below, but there are also others, such as: black, white dresses, minimalism, colour mix and pattern mix. With prospects being that great, I truly can't wait for Spring to arrive and temperatures to rise.

Harper's Bazaar Pre-Fall 2011

Yesterday I was reading Harper's Bazaar online and they published their favourites from the Pre-Fall collection. I selected a little more and here are my favourite looks:

I love the simplicity and the clean cuts, the side-parted pony tales and the red lips. It really just confirms my usual theory that less is more!

My version of leather leggings

OK, so finally after a lot of talking I am uploading my first outfit picture.  I was wearing this to my best friend's birthday party and you can also see my new haircut.
I know the picture quality isn't great, but I'll be working on that and promise improvement for my next post!

Alexa Chung's distinguishing style

Before I start posting photos of my outfits (I'm still working on that) I decided to dedicate today's post to Alexa Chung. For those who don't know her, she is an English TV presenter, model and socialite.
Anyways, her style is absolutely stunning. It always seems casual and absolutely effortless, which is impressive. She clearly has a fable for CHANEL Bags, in all sizes and colours, and I definitely wouldn't mind her collection!! I also really like her new bob haircut. I think it looks great and matches her overall style. But maybe I should also mention that I cut my hair last week, but I was following Keira Knightley's example.

And more leather

I know leather leggings are actually nothing new and been around for 2 seasons, but I cannot help myself and blog about it, especially when the weather is bad and there are so many different ways to actually wear and style them. Weather with long jumpers, feminine blouses or fur vests, it just always looks great and immediately dresses up every look. The only thing to bear in mind is not to wear a too tight top, because it would be just a little too much.

So here and also here are a few styling ideas in these photos, and in most examples the top is kept relatively wide and is balanced out with leggings and heels.
Of course I also got my pair, but I have to add that I generally love leather and already possess about 4 leather jackets, leather shorts and a dress.

Finally leather shorts!

Finally I got myself some leather shorts and I am absolutely in love with them. Vintage, chocolate brown and waste-high thus perfect! I have been looking for a while so now I just cannot wait for an occasion to wear them.
I have to admit that at the moment I am so cold (-4°C) that I cannot imagine to wear something short because I feel like I will freeze to death but eventually I will post a pic of the outfit.
Anyways, great ways to style them would be with feminine blouses, turtle-necks or a lace body for a night out. For colder days, with opaque tights and booties, preferably with laces. I will post a photo on Saturday after I've worn mine for a birthday party.

The wonderful Rachel Bilson

Today's post is dedicated to the lovely Rachel Bilson. To me she is one of the best dressed stars around. She always looks great, no matter if she is in heels, flats, jeans, dresses or on the red carpet. It is obvious that she is comfortable in her own clothes and likes to experiment with combinations and different fabrics. She widely known as the "Denim Queen" and most of her combinations do contain denim of some sort, whether simple jeans, or shorts or a jacket, it is always perfectly combined with the rest of the outfit.
Here is a selection for everyone to get inspired:
