Life and other things

So life - that big thing surrounding us... Am I the only one finding it complicated? Am I the only one wishing there was a manual to it? What is the right decision? What am I supposed to do? Just relying on a hunch sometimes doesn't seem enough. And as if the uncertainly wasn't enough it usually goes together with fear. The fear to make wrong decision, the wrong choice. What if I screw up? What if the choice is wrong? Will I be able to fix it afterwards? What if I won't be any good? What if I'll fail?
I guess in the end I'd just have to try and if it doesn't work just try and try again...
Recently I was reading this article about Generation Y and how we all think that we are special, thus having great expectations and should those not be me met making us up satisfied with our life.
So how am I supposed to use this knowledge in order to cope with my situation? I'm guessing I'd have to wait and see...

Saturday Impressions and FOTD

I know I have been absent, however I was working a lot and since I put myself on a make-up shopping ban, the only thing I have been buying is nail polish.
Instead I decided to do another "Saturday impressions" post.

Saturday impressions

Today has been a lovely day and I went to a pool to get some sun. Somehow it does seem that at the moment the weather is always nicer on the weekends than during the week, which I find to be a huge plus.

Saturday impressions

Yesterday has been a lovely lovely day. Naturally I decided to enjoy myself and had yummy pancakes for lunch followed by a walk on the seaside.

New year and hopefully new habits

Firstly let me start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
Yet again it has been ages since my last post so yet again I do have to apologise to you if you are following my blog. I flew home for a few days over the holidays and I have to admit that I don't really have any outfit pictures, so let me share some personal ones instead.
Top Zara

I am not big on new years resolutions since one usually doesn't actually keep them but then again I read today that supposedly seeing the resolutions written down somewhere is a good motivator. So I decided to give it a try.

* Be more positive
* Eat better and drink more
* Work out more
* Take better care of myself
* Try to be less lazy
* Shop less
* Spend more time on things that I like and enjoy life

Beginning tomorrow I am giving this list a try and even if I manage to stick to half of the things then it will be a decent change.
Soon I will also write a post about all the new stuff that I have, since there is actually a lot over the past few months.

Ich bin ein Stern

One of my favourite poems, which is haven't shares here yet is called "I am a star" by Inge Auerbacher. I thought about posting a translation, but I fear in this case the poem won't have anything of it's original grip left.

Days becoming nights

As the evenings are getting colder and the days shorter it's nice to cuddle up on the couch with a few scented candles with a blanket over your feet, so that you're nice and warm (wollig warm as we call it). Watching a nice movie or listening to music, enjoying poetry and having a glass of wine.
My inspiration really always is my little Moleskin because once I open it I actually always have something to say or write.

So here another beautiful poem that I absolutely love and adore in the author's original handwriting:
It is called "Was es ist" or "What it is" for those of you who don't know German.

The Shoe Appreciation Society

So today I have found the coolest thing while I was browsing. Obviously for me as a shoe addict it's absolute fuel and has to be shared!
Check this out:
Isn't this the coolest thing ever? I really want to get it as a print for my room because this epic and it will fit nicely into my new room, once it's done.

Tel Aviv impressions

Today I wanted to share a few impressions that I have of Tel Aviv and actually a few other places and cities with you. I find that Israel is just such an amazing and beautiful place that it's a shame to keep it all to myself. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Just a little baking

It has been snowing since yesterday evening and there are about 25cm on the ground. I really don't remember a winter like this here in Germany and it reminds me of my childhood in Ukraine. I was going to the supermarket in the morning to buy the missing ingredients for the biscuits I was planning to bake and literally couldn't open my gate because of the snow masses blocking the way.
Anyway, I made it and also managed to bake today. Although I don't celebrate Christmas I somehow got into the spirit of the holidays. And here is my contribution:

I am actually very proud because they look really nice and taste even better! It is a really easy recipe to make and it doesn't take long so it's a quick addition for the holiday morning.

Poetry that touched my soul

I used to care a lot for poetry and classical music back in time, but as I moved on this passion sort of just dissolved. Nowadays I only listen to Mozart (if at all) and don't even remember the last time I read a poem. However, there is one poem that I learnt my heart and will never forget. I find it so beautiful and touching that I decided to share it with you. It was written in Russian by Aleksandr Sergeevich Pushkin and it's called Я вас любил.../I loved you once....

Я вас любил: любовь еще, быть может
В душе моей угасла не совсем;
Но пусть она вас больше не тревожит;
Я не хочу печалить вас ничем.
Я вас любил безмолвно, безнадежно,
То робостью, то ревностью томим;
Я вас любил так искренно, так нежно,
Как дай вам бог любимой быть другим.

I loved you once: perhaps that love has yet
To die down thoroughly within my soul;
But let it not dismay you any longer;
I have no wish to cause you any sorrow.
I loved you wordlessly, without a hope,
By shyness tortured, or by jealousy.
I loved you with such tenderness and candor
And pray God grants you to be loved that way again.
So to me this is the most beautiful poem ever written on this planet. I hope you like it just as much as I do.

Wish list

My birthday and also New Year are coming up soon, so of course I put some thought into it and came up with a few things I really really want.

1. The Bare Escentuals Angled Face Brush

I really really do want this brush because I'm dying to start contouring my face. I have been looking at different brands and prices, and before finding this brush I was actually tending towards the MAC angled face brush, however this one is cheaper and also got great reviews. I watched a few videos online and actually learnt how to do it using bronzing powder but obviously I need the right brush for the application. Before that, although I did buy bronzer a long time ago, I was very reluctant to use it since it always kind of looked dirty on me and I had no idea where to actually apply it. However, now, that I know, I want the right brush for it! So this one costs £15.30, the delivery is free and you can get it here.

2. REVLON SUPER LUSTROUS LIPGLOSS
I saw this lipgloss in boots today, however didn't buy it just yet. The shade I am dying to have is "Peach Petal". It is sort of milky with a hint of pink, so exactly what I like. Normally most nude lipsticks or glosses have a beige undertone but since I prefer pink, it is really hard for me to find. I bought my very favourite lipgloss in milky-pink many years ago by Agnes B. but unfortunately it is not part of their permanent collection, thus it has been a chase for a long time.

3. Helena Rubinstein LASH QUEEN FELINE BLACKS

As I think mentioned in another post, this is the best mascara in the world, or at least it is for me. I naturally have very long lashes so most mascaras do work for me, but this one perfectly separates, curls and defines my lashes perfectly and actually gives me a false lash effect. And since mine is coming to an end, I definitely need to replace mine.

4. Artdeco Eye Shadow Matt
I think I was actually mentioning at some point that I don't particularly like sparkly or shimmery eye shadows, so for my planned smoky eyes look I found these two matte shades by Artdeco. They have a huge variety of different shadows and they all come separately. Artdeco also sells magnet boxes, that come in different sizes, depending on how many shadows you need it for.

5. Treasure yourself by Miranda Kerr

So Miranda Kerr has written a book, called Treasure yourself. It is basically about loving yourself and full of positive affirmations to improve everyone's self esteem.
Here is what Waterstones writes:

"Supermodel Miranda Kerr first book is an incredible collection of thoughts, memories and lessons that will put you on the path to self-improvement. Written for a new audience of young adults, this book has important lessons on self-confidence, inner beauty and acceptance that will resonate throughout their life journey. This title uses some of the classic wisdom that has inspired Miranda to achieve, including many thoughts from bestselling self-help authors including Louise L. Hay, Deepak Chopra and Wayne W. Dyer."
