Better eating issue

Lately I have been trying to improve my diet and attempting to eat better thus I have been trying many new and healthy recipes. So it is only logical that I would like to share it with you.
To beginn this new series I shall start with quinoa porridge. Quinoa is considered a "super grain" and has been discovered by the Incas around 4 thousand years ago. It is one of the biggest protein providers in the world containing many essential amino-acids. It has up to double the amount of fiber compared to other grains, which has a favorable effect one cholesterol, blood pressure, heard disease and diabetes. It is also rich in iron, lysine, B2 and magnesium. So overall great to be integrated into ones diet.

In order to make the porridge you will need:
- 1 cup almond/rice or regular milk
- 1/3 cup quinoa grains
- 1 apple (graded)
- dried fruits of your choice
- 1 tbl spoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 t spoon cinnamon
- 1/4 t spoon ground nutmeg
- some almond flakes (garnish)
- some maple sirup

What to do:
First soak the quinoa in some cold water for 15 min. to accelerate the cooking process. Grade an apple and sprinkle it with some lemon juice to prevent blackening and set aside. Chop up the dried fruits. Today I have used dried apricots.
Boil the milk and add the drained quinoa stirring frequently. When quinoa is nearly done, add the other ingredients and cook together for another minute or so.
Let it cool for a few minutes, sprinkle with almond flakes and some maple sirup and enjoy.

Life and other things

So life - that big thing surrounding us... Am I the only one finding it complicated? Am I the only one wishing there was a manual to it? What is the right decision? What am I supposed to do? Just relying on a hunch sometimes doesn't seem enough. And as if the uncertainly wasn't enough it usually goes together with fear. The fear to make wrong decision, the wrong choice. What if I screw up? What if the choice is wrong? Will I be able to fix it afterwards? What if I won't be any good? What if I'll fail?
I guess in the end I'd just have to try and if it doesn't work just try and try again...
Recently I was reading this article about Generation Y and how we all think that we are special, thus having great expectations and should those not be me met making us up satisfied with our life.
So how am I supposed to use this knowledge in order to cope with my situation? I'm guessing I'd have to wait and see...

Take the day off - Part 1 evening skin care

I realised that I actually have no updated skin care on my blog and now with the season change I figured it would be the perfect time.
The first part will tackle the cleansing so let's dive in.
More towards the winter I need to adjust my cleansers since my skin gets quite dry and flaky on my forehead and on my cheeks.
My magical trio works well for me. I use the Clinique "take the day off" balm on my dry face and really massage it in. For my eye makeup I prefer to use MAC's cleanse off oil just because it is more liquid to beginn with and thus easier to work around the eyes.
Bear in mind that I do not use a flannel to take it off but rinse of with water and then proceed to Clarins' gentle foaming cleanser for sensitive or dry skin. I massage it over my skin and I'm not gonna lie I do enjoy this because it feels very rich and luxurious plus the smell is devine. I then use one of those rubbery brushed to give my face a nice cleansing and gentle exfoliation and after that we are done. The skin feels incredibly smooth and is ready for further steps so stay tuned!

Hooded eyes

So as you guys may or may not know I have hooded eyes. I really wish I had a nice crease but unfortunately that is not the case.
Having a hooded eye means that the makeup, that is shown in makeup tutorials or magazines needs to be adjusted to the eye. I struggle particularly with the winged eye liner because, obviously depending how far your "hood" goes, it is not possible to follow your bottom lash line for the direction on the wing.
Over the past few days I seem to have been totally obsessed with Korean tutorials because their eye shame seems to be more similar to mine (post op.). I am mentioning this because there are many more techniques that can be used on a mono lid is and I just read today that every 5th woman in Seoul has subjected herself to some kind of beauty enhancement procedure.
The way they do the wing is basically drawing an imaginary line from the tear duct and just continue this line at the other end. The line can then be softened with shadow and the crease can be defined lightly, but all in all a very nice alternative for hooded eyes.

Blog revisited

Today I was looking at my favourite blogs and decided that it is long that an overhaul is long over due. In a life of every blog comes the time where one has to decide how to continue. Is it time for the blog to retire or hasn't it passed its prime yet?
I decided that although it is the fourth year of my blog's existence it never received the right attention from me, apart from the first months of its creation. This has to change!
A blog is a creation. A free space to share thoughts, likes, style, makeup or whatever comes to mind thus the structure of this blog will take a slightly different direction.

Saturday Impressions and FOTD

I know I have been absent, however I was working a lot and since I put myself on a make-up shopping ban, the only thing I have been buying is nail polish.
Instead I decided to do another "Saturday impressions" post.

Saturday impressions

Today has been a lovely day and I went to a pool to get some sun. Somehow it does seem that at the moment the weather is always nicer on the weekends than during the week, which I find to be a huge plus.
