A few new things

Today I just want to share some of my recent purchases.
So I bought this absolutely beautiful accordion pleated skirt from "American Apparel" today and it really was my first, since this particular store isn't necessarily my cup of tea. However, I absolutely fell in love with this skirt and bought it today in black. My preferred colour was actually "almondine" but they didn't have it. So after some reflection I realised that the black one is by far more practical and besides, if it comes in again, I'll buy it. I really don't mind having this skirt twice! I will post an outfit picture soon, so you can see for yourselves what it actually looks like.

I also bought this beautiful pair of clips at a vintage sale here in Tel Aviv. I really adore them, because they seem to work with almost every piece of clothing, since they shimmer in different colours.
I am now also a proud owner of a pair of gorgeous vintage black heels. I have to admit that usually vintage isn't really my thing unless it comes from my immediate family. This pair, however, reminded me so much of my mother's shoes, that I simply had to have them!

Today I was checking out a few blogs that I follow and I found this incredibly creative idea of a simple DIY skirt on "LOVE AESTHETICS". Now the only thing I really need is an oversized Tee in a nice colour.

Just a little baking

It has been snowing since yesterday evening and there are about 25cm on the ground. I really don't remember a winter like this here in Germany and it reminds me of my childhood in Ukraine. I was going to the supermarket in the morning to buy the missing ingredients for the biscuits I was planning to bake and literally couldn't open my gate because of the snow masses blocking the way.
Anyway, I made it and also managed to bake today. Although I don't celebrate Christmas I somehow got into the spirit of the holidays. And here is my contribution:

I am actually very proud because they look really nice and taste even better! It is a really easy recipe to make and it doesn't take long so it's a quick addition for the holiday morning.

DIY Weekend

It has been snowing in Europe for days and to be honest it's just so much more tempting to stay at home and spend the weekend in bed. Yesterday I was still out and doing some shopping with my mom and bought some supplies for my DIY-projects.
Since it was the perfect snowy weekend I spent some time flipping through other peoples' fashion of life-style blogs and got inspired.
Firstly I knitted a turban in light pink for myself since I've been desiring it since the "Sex and the City" movie and saw a knitted version of it in Zara. I really like my creation because it fits me perfectly and I actually love the colour. I think I'll be knitting one in black for myself as well. The advantage with this project is that I have so many yarn left-overs in different colours thus I can just check my stash without spending money on more. Anyways, here is the result:
Update: After wearing my little turban today I realised that the top of my head was getting cold, thus I added a top to it and here is the result:

Secondly I decided to transform my shoes. I bough green suede heels when I was living in Madrid and decided it's time to change their appearance a little. I have to admit that it wasn't entirely my idea and I got inspired at MADAM BROSHKINA's blog here. I bought these little gem stones as well as transparent glue and have been placing them with tweezers today. So here is the result of that and I absolutely LOVE it:

So what do you think of my weekend pastime? And what did you do during this total weather chaos?

Knitting and crocheting

So, as the winter is coming closer and closer, and my fear that it's going to be just as bad as the last one is taking over, I'm back to knitting and crocheting. I find it very rewarding, since one doesn't only enjoy the outcome at the end (presumably) but is also very relaxed during the whole process.
I have to admit that I haven't produced anything more serious than a scarf or a hat just yet, but I guess my next project will be a nice jumper.
This year I picked up the crochet hook again, after not having used it for many many years, but I do find it easier to make hats with a crochet hook rather than using a round needle or knitting on 5.
If you are rusty on how to crochet there are some great tutorials available on youtube and actually very helpful. I want to share some of my creations here and hope you like them!

This is a scarf that I made for my friend. I find this stitch very pretty and I think I might be using it when attempting my future jumper. It is a very easy one, the only downside to it is that it uses a whole lot of yarn.

I made this beret and when I finished I decided to give it to my grandmother because I knew it would make her happy and I can always make another one for myself.
